Over three event packed days this past July 8th through the 10th, the University of South Florida hosted this year’s 2014 Overseas Association for College Admission Counseling Conference (OACAC). Executive director of the Fulbright Commission Belgium and Luxembourg, Ms. Erica Lutes flew into Tampa, Florida to participate in the conference and gain insight from over 80 educational workshops focused around strategies for networking and professional development. The strengthening of transatlantic collaboration was evident throughout the conference. A major highlight was the Regional Update on Europe presentation by Johanna Fishbein, International School of Brussels Head of College and Careers Counselling, with representatives from Amsterdam and Switzerland. Following the conference Ms. Lutes reunited with Professor Marco Rimanelli, who just returned to Tampa after a year as the Fulbright-Schuman Chair in U.S.-EU Relations at the College of Europe. Prof. Rimanelli generously gave Ms. Lutes a tour of St. Leo University’s campus, and displayed his pride for U.S.-EU relations with his “NATO” license plate.
