For 2015, Mons has been chosen as the European Capital of Culture, receiving funding from the European Union to renovate the city, open five new museums and a concert hall, and install art installations all over the city. Come join Fulbright alumni and new American grantees on Saturday, October 24, to discover Mons 2015!
11:45 AM – Meet at the Mons Train Station in front of the 4 colored pillars and walk to restaurant (optional)
12:15 to 2:00 PM – Lunch at Chez Henri (Rue d’Havré 41), a traditional Belgian restaurant
2:15 PM to 3:15 PM – Musée du Doudou (Jardin du Mayeur)
3:30 PM to 5:30 PM – Guided tour of the city of Mons (in English or French)
5:30 PM – Drink in the Grand’Place (optional)
The lunch menu features traditional food of Mons:
Appetizer: Tomates-crevettes à la belge (tomato halves with shrimp salad)
Main dish: Côtes du porc à l’berdouille (pork chops with mustard shallot sauce)
Dessert: Mousse au chocolat
For vegetarians, there is also the option of a Greek salad.
