![]() The Fulbright-Schuman Program The FULBRIGHT-SCHUMAN Program, administered by the Commission for Educational Exchange between the United States, Belgium and Luxembourg with funding from the U.S. State Department and the Directorate-General for Education and Culture of the European Commission, provides approximately 13 grants to citizens of Member States of the European Union for study, research or lecturing on European Union affairs, European integration or US-EU relations These grants are awarded for a minimum period of three (3) months, with a maximum period of ten (10) months.
Grants for University Lecturing: Approximately two to four one-semester awards for post-doctoral lecturing on EU affairs, US-EU relations, integration and/or political economy at a selected U.S. university will be granted. Successful candidates will be placed in an appropriate institution. Detailed information on the U.S. universities requesting a EU Scholar-in-Residence is available in December of each year. Grants include a monthly stipend of € 3,000, plus a lump sum of € 2,000 for round-trip air transportation and relocation costs (up to a maximum of € 30,000 per grantee). Health and accident insurance, and visa sponsorship (J-visa category) are also included. Interested applicants should submit the preliminary application as soon as possible. Final application forms duly completed must reach the Fulbright Commission by March 1. Grants for Graduate Study, Pre-Doctoral and Post-Doctoral Research: Eleven to 13 awards for research and/or post-graduate study on EU affairs or US-EU relations at an accredited US university or independent research center will be granted. Grants include a monthly stipend of € equivalent of $3,000, a travel and relocation allowance of the € equivalent of $ 3,000, health and accident insurance, and visa sponsorship (J-visa category). Interested applicants should submit the preliminary application as soon as possible. Final application forms duly completed must reach the Fulbright Commission by March 1.
