Timeline

For those deadlines that fall on a weekend, please use the previous Friday at NOON (12pm) as the deadline to submit all applications and supporting materials online to the Fulbright office in Brussels.

The following is a list of application timelines for various Fulbright Awards:

 

Application Timeline for the Harvard BOAS Awards

September 15, 2015: Competition opens, online application:

Please note that you will need to address why you are applying for a Fulbright grant in your application. The Fulbright program is about mutual understanding: please explain very clearly in the application how you would carry out this mission.

FOREIGN FULBRIGHT STUDENTS (no PhD):

Proof of PhD needed by April 1st of the following Dec 1st deadline for PhD candidates applying for the scholar category.

December 1, 2015: Deadline to submit the online application form
January 21, 2016: 10 minute interview in English (in person only) at the Commission for Educational Exchange in Brussels
End January 2016: Applicants notified by e-mail
May 2016: Notification of your acceptance and award at Harvard University
Mid-June 2016: Pre-departure meeting at the U.S. Embassy and reception with the U.S. Ambassador
August 2016: Departures to the U.S.

 

Application Timeline for Foreign Language Teaching Assistants (FLTA) Award

September 15, 2015: Competition opens, applications begin online.

10 minute interview in English at the Commission for Educational Exchange in Brussels
Mid-January 2016: Applicants notified by e-mail
March 2016: Notification by the headquarters in New York that your application is accepted
May 2016: Notification of your placement in an American college or university
Mid-June 2016: Pre-departure meeting at the U.S. Embassy and reception with the U.S. Ambassador
August 2016: Departures to the U.S.

Application Timeline for the Graduate Students
September 15, 2015: Final online application starts

December 1, 2015: Final online application deadline at NOON (12pm), consisting of a 15 page application form with CV, test scores, three recommendation letters, transcripts, etc
For applicants in the GENERAL category – January 20, 2016: 10 minute interview in English (in person only) at the Commission for Educational Exchange in Brussels with a selection panel made up of alumni, professors, board members, etc
For applicants in the LEGAL category – January 21, 2016: 10 minute interview in English (in person only) at the Commission for Educational Exchange in Brussels with a selection panel made up of alumni, professors, board members, etc
February 2016: Applicants notified by e-mail
May or June 2016: Pre-departure meeting at U.S. Embassy and reception with the U.S. Ambassador
August 2016-March 2017: Departures to the U.S.
