For those deadlines that fall on a weekend, please use the previous Friday at NOON (12pm) as the deadline to deliver all applications and supporting materials to the Fulbright office in Brussels.

The following is a list of application timelines for various Fulbright Awards:

Application Timeline for the Harvard BOAS Awards
November 1, 2010: Competition opens, applications available
October 14, 2011:  Suggested deadline for online preliminary application form consisting of biographical data (roughly 2 pages)
October  28, 2011: Final application deadline at NOON (12pm) to submit a hard copy of the FINAL application (consisting of a 15 page application form with CV, (optional) writing sample, 5 photos, etc).
November 15, 2011: Deadline for 3 letters of recommendations
Mid-November 2011: 10 minute interview in English at the Commission for Educational Exchange in Brussels
Mid-November 2011: Applicants notified by physical mail
April 2012: Notification by Harvard of final selection
Mid-June 2012: Pre-departure meeting at U.S. Embassy and reception with the U.S. Ambassador
July-March 2012: Departures to the U.S.

Application Timeline for Foreign Language Teaching Assistants (FLTA) Award
November 1, 2010: Competition opens, applications available
October 14, 2011:  Suggested deadline for online preliminary application form consisting of biographical data (roughly 2 pages)
October  28, 2011: Final application deadline at NOON (12pm) to submit a hard copy of the FINAL application (consisting of a 15 page application form with CV, (optional) writing sample, 5 photos, etc).
November 15, 2011: Deadline for 3 letters of recommendations
Mid-November, 2011: 10 minute interview in English at the Commission for Educational Exchange in Brussels
Mid-November, 2011:  Applicants notified by physical mail
January 2012: Notification by the headquarters in New York that your application is accepted
May 2012: Notification of your placement in an American college or university
Mid-June 2012: Pre-departure meeting at the U.S. embassy and reception with the U.S. Ambassador
July-March 2012: Departures to the U.S.

Application Timeline for Journalists
November 1, 2010: Competition opens, applications available
October 14, 2011: Suggested deadline for online preliminary application form consisting of biographical data (roughly 2 pages)

Mid-November 2011: Applicants notified by physical mail
January-April 2012:  Selected candidate arranges affiliation in the U.S.
May 2012: Health forms submitted
Mid-June 2012: Pre-departure meeting at the U.S. Embassy and reception with the U.S. Ambassador
July-March 2012: Departures to the U.S..

Application Timeline for Summer Seminar in American Studies (TD) Award
October 15, 2010:  Competition opens, applications available
October 14, 2011: Suggested deadline for online preliminary application form consisting of biographical data (roughly 2 pages)
October , 2011:  Final application deadline at NOON (12pm) to submit a hard copy of the FINAL application (consisting of a 15 page application form with CV, (optional) writing sample, 5 photos, etc).
November 15, 2011: Deadline for 3 letters of recommendations
End of November 2011: 10 minute interview in English at the Commission for Educational Exchange in Brussels
Early December 2011:  Applicants notified by physical mail
May 2012: Notified where seminar will be held
Mid-June 2012: 6 week seminar in the United States begins

Application Timeline Lecturers-Research Scholars
March 2, 2011: Competition opens, online preliminary applications available from www.fulbright.be website
February 1, 2012: Deadline for online preliminary application form consisting of biographical data (roughly 2 pages)
February 15, 2012: Deadline for letter of affiliation from a U.S. institution (Fulbright Office will give you the link to the FINAL application forms at this time)
March 1, 2012: Final application deadline at NOON (12pm) to submit a hard copy of the FINAL application (consisting of a 15 page application form with CV, (optional) writing sample, 5 photos, etc).
March 15,  2012: Deadline for 3 letters of recommendations
End-March 2012: 10 minute interview in English at the Commission for Educational Exchange in Brussels
End March 2012: Applicants notified by physical mail
Mid-June 2012: Pre-departure meeting at the U.S. Embassy and reception with the U.S. Ambassador
July-March 2012: Departures to the U.S.

Application Timeline for the Graduate Students
March 1, 2011: Preliminary applications available
April 15, 2012: Suggested deadline for online preliminary application form consisting of biographical data (roughly 2 pages)
April 27, 2012: Final application deadline at NOON (12pm) to submit a hard copy of the FINAL application (consisting of a 15 page application form with CV, (optional) writing sample (for PhD students), 5 photos, etc).
May 15, 2012: Deadline for 3 letters of recommendations
Mid-May 2012: 10 minute interview in English at the Commission for Educational Exchange in Brussels
Mid-May 2012: Applicants notified by physical mail
End-May 2012: Health forms needed
Mid-June 2012: Pre-departure meeting at U.S. Embassy and reception with the U.S. Ambassador
July-March 2012: Departures to the U.S.

Application Timeline for Senior Specialists
Applications are accepted year-round and should be submitted at least four months before the anticipated arrival of the specialist in Belgium.
