For those deadlines that fall on a weekend, please use the previous Friday at NOON (12pm) as the deadline to submit all applications and supporting materials online to the Fulbright office in Brussels.

The following is a list of application timelines for various Fulbright Awards:

Application Timeline for the Harvard BOAS Awards

November 1, 2013: Competition opens, applications available
February 1, 2014: Deadline to submit preliminary application form consisting of biographical data (roughly 2 pages)
March 1, 2014: Final application deadline at NOON (12pm) with 3 letters of recommendations uploaded online and completed Harvard application e-mailed to adviser@fulbright.be
Mid-March 2014: 10 minute interview in English at the Commission for Educational Exchange in Brussels
Late-March 2014: Applicants notified by e-mail
April 2014: Notification by Harvard of final selection
Mid-June 2014: Pre-departure meeting at U.S. Embassy and reception with the U.S. Ambassador
August 2014-March 2015: Departures to the U.S.

Application Timeline for Foreign Language Teaching Assistants (FLTA) Award
July 1, 2013: Competition opens, applications available
October 1, 2013:  Deadline to submit preliminary application form consisting of biographical data (roughly 2 pages)
October 31, 2013: Final application deadline at NOON (12pm) to submit the FINAL application online (consisting of a 15 page application form with CV, recommendation letters, transcripts, TOEFL scores, etc)
Mid-November, 2013: 10 minute interview in English at the Commission for Educational Exchange in Brussels
Mid-November, 2013:  Applicants notified by e-mail
March 2014: Notification by the headquarters in New York that your application is accepted
May 2014: Notification of your placement in an American college or university
Mid-June 2014: Pre-departure meeting at the U.S. Embassy and reception with the U.S. Ambassador
August 2014-March 2015: Departures to the U.S.

Application Timeline for Journalists
November 1, 2013: Competition opens, applications available
February 1, 2014: Deadline to submit preliminary application form consisting of biographical data (roughly 2 pages)
March 1, 2014: Final online application deadline at NOON (12pm), consisting of a 15 page application form with CV, three recommendation letters, transcripts, etc)
Mid-March, 2014: 10 minute interview in English at the Commission for Educational Exchange in Brussels
Late-March 2014: Applicants notified by e-mail
Mid-June 2014: Pre-departure meeting at the U.S. Embassy and reception with the U.S. Ambassador
August 2014-March 2015: Departures to the U.S.

Application Timeline for Summer Seminar in American Studies (TD) Award
July 1, 2013:  Competition opens, applications available
October 31, 2013: Deadline to submit application form and 3 letters of recommendation
Mid-November 2013: 10 minute interview in English at the Commission for Educational Exchange in Brussels
Late-November 2013:  Applicants notified by e-mail
May 2014: Notified where seminar will be held
Mid-June 2014: 6 week seminar in the United States begins

Application Timeline for Science and Technology
February 2, 2011: Competition opens, online preliminary applications available from www.fulbright.be website
January 1, 2012: Deadline for online preliminary application form consisting of biographical data (roughly 2 pages)
February 1, 2012: Final application deadline at NOON (12pm) to submit a hard copy of the FINAL application (consisting of a 15 page application form with CV, (optional) writing sample, 5 photos, etc).
Mid-February 2012: 10 minute interview in English at the Commission for Educational Exchange in Brussels
Spring 2012: Applicants notified by e-mail
Mid-June 2012: Pre-departure meeting at the U.S. Embassy and reception with the U.S. Ambassador
Fall 2013: Departures to the U.S.

Application Timeline Lecturers-Research Scholars
November 1, 2013: Competition opens, applications available
February 1, 2014: Deadline to submit preliminary application form consisting of biographical data (roughly 2 pages)
February 15, 2014: Deadline for letter of affiliation from a U.S. institution (Fulbright Office will give you the link to the FINAL application forms at this time)
March 1, 2014: Final online application deadline at NOON (12pm), consisting of a 15 page application form with CV, writing sample, three recommendation letters, transcripts, etc)
Mid-March 2014: 10 minute interview in English at the Commission for Educational Exchange in Brussels
End March 2014: Applicants notified by e-mail
Mid-June 2014: Pre-departure meeting at the U.S. Embassy and reception with the U.S. Ambassador
July-March 2014: Departures to the U.S.

Application Timeline for the Graduate Students
November 1, 2013: Preliminary applications available

Application Timeline for Senior Specialists
Applications are accepted year-round and should be submitted at least four months before the anticipated arrival of the specialist in Belgium.

Applications are accepted year-round. Please note that awards will be made on a first come, first served basis.
