Fulbright Scholarships – Grants for Post-Doctoral Research
Deadline: MARCH 1
The Commission will only consider applications in this competition from research scholars and lecturers who are assured of a position with an American institution of higher education.
I. Fulbright Awards
Approximately 10 grants-in-aid and travel grants will be available for candidates who would undertake post-doctoral research or university lecturing for a minimum of three months, maximum one year, at a maximum of two accredited American universities or institutions of higher education. preliminary application
II. Fulbright-Schuman Program
Approximately 22 awards will be available for EU academics, professionals, or policy makers for research or lecturing on EU affairs or U.S.-E.U. relations at a recognized institution in the U.S. Each award includes a monthly stipend, round-trip travel, health and accident insurance, and visa sponsorship. APPLICATION TIMELINE FOR LECTURER-RESEARCH SCHOLARS:
March 2, 2011: Competition opens, online preliminary applications available from www.fulbright.be website
February 1, 2012: Deadline for online preliminary application form consisting of biographical data (roughly 2 pages)
February 15, 2012: Deadline for letter of affiliation from a U.S. institution (Fulbright Office will give you the link to the FINAL application forms at this time)
March 1, 2012: Final application deadline at NOON (12pm) to submit a hard copy of the FINAL application (consisting of a 15 page application form with CV, (optional) writing sample, 5 photos, etc).
March 15, 2012: Deadline for 3 letters of recommendations
March 22, 2012: 10 minute interview in English at the Commission for Educational Exchange in Brussels
End March 2012: Applicants notified by physical mail
Mid-June 2012: Pre-departure meeting at the U.S. Embassy and reception with the U.S. ambassador
July-March 2012: Departures to the U.S.
